Free Your Mind, Groningen. Ten thousand people on the festival grounds. The organizers asked us to bring Float of Thin Air — our mobile parade act — and give the crowd something no stage can: a spectacle that moves through them instead of playing at them.
What we built
Four oversized Pac-Man ghost sculptures — Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde — each lit from the inside with programmable LED. Carried through the crowd in a slow procession, so people could interact, shoot photos and step inside the game for a moment. The crowd did the rest: it parted like a retro maze, opening corridors for the ghosts to float through.

Built for open air
Outdoor festivals punish inflatable art: wind, sun, unpredictable weather. Every sculpture ran a double-frame internal skeleton and a UV-resistant outer skin. They held through six hours of direct sunlight and one surprise gust that tried to turn Inky into a kite. That resilience is engineered in before we ever load the van — it's the difference between an act that survives a festival day and one that doesn't.
The result
Sunset hit around 21:30. The ghosts lit up against the darkening sky, and the field stopped.
For fifteen minutes, ten thousand people looked up at the same time.
That shared moment is the product: it fills phone cameras, it travels on socials, and it's what visitors talk about afterwards.
